The AppliedeX Advantage
Concrete Joint Repair Process
Clean and Prepare
The joint must be cleared of all debris, old sealant, and loose concrete. This often involves using a vacuum or compressed air to remove dust and a wire brush to scrub the sidewalls. For deeper repairs, a backer rod is inserted to control the depth of the filler.
Fill & Bond
A bonding agent or primer is often applied to the sidewalls to ensure the new material adheres to the old concrete. The joint is then filled with a repair material, such as a flexible polyurethane for expansion joints or a rigid epoxy for heavy-traffic floors, ensuring the gap is completely saturated.
Level, Verify & Finish
Once the filler is applied, the surface is smoothed or troweled to be flush with the surrounding floor. After the material has cured, any excess is scraped or ground down to create a seamless, level transition that prevents future tripping hazards or vehicle jarring.
