Case Study

2 Week Floor Transformation for HAI Robotics

From a severely deteriorated slab to DM1/FM1 automation precision in a highly aggressive two-week remediation schedule.

Overview

A deteriorated slab, rebuilt into an automation platform.

AppliedeX was brought in to take a 30,000-square-foot slab that could not carry a high-performance HAI Robotics system and turn it into a verified, defined-movement operating surface — inside a two-week window, without disrupting the wider facility.

The Challenge

A deteriorated slab created automation risk.

The existing 30,000-square-foot slab was not suitable for a high-performance HAI Robotics system. Decades of movement, deterioration, and previous repairs created a highly inconsistent operating surface.

Critical Measurement

Max Floor Deviation

A geometrically unstable foundation preventing safe deployment of the ASRS systems.

AppliedeX Solution

Data-driven remediation, controlled correction.

AppliedeX developed a remediation program combining high-density 3D analysis, total-station control, engineered concrete repairs, precision robotic-path grinding, and ultra-precise verification.

01
3D Scanning

Digital floor analysis

We captured a multi-million-point surface model of the existing slab. This data was then precisely coordinated with the proposed HAI Robotics layout to identify exact collision points.

02
Control

Total-station control

Permanent points kept the survey, repair, and grinding teams working from the exact same coordinate system, eliminating drift and ensuring absolute precision across the 30,000 sq. ft. zone.

03
Repairs

Concrete repairs

Before grinding, underlying structural issues were addressed. Damaged joints, severe cracks, spalls, expansion-joint transitions, and displaced panels were systematically rebuilt or corrected.

04
Grinding

Robotic-path grinding

Material was removed strategically to correct geometry exclusively where it affected the robot wheelbase, minimizing dust and preserving overall slab integrity.

05
Verification

Profilograph verification

Defined-movement paths were meticulously verified upon completion with a digital profilograph capable of measuring deviations down to 0.1 mm.

The priority
Correcting the geometry that directly affected defined robot wheel paths and free-movement areas — not simply visual appearance.
